About us
We are a nondenominational, non-profit nursery school, located in
Shelburne Village. The Shelburne Nursery School is a parent
cooperative. We rely on the energy, enthusiasm and

good will of
our parents to keep the school operating and to keep tuition as low as
practical. Parent involvement creates an amazing sense of
community and we look forward to continuing that tradition.
We pride ourselves on creating a community in which children, their
parents, and our committed and highly experienced teaching staff come
together to create the optimal environment to introduce young children
to learning.
We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of
Young Children (NAEYC),
voluntarily undergoing a comprehensive process of internal self-study
and improvement and an
outside evaluation by NAEYC validators. This insures that we are
offering high
quality programs that provide a safe and nurturing environment, while
promoting the development of young children. We also have been awarded
5 stars, the highest distinction, through our participation in
Vermont's STep Ahead Recognition System (STARS) for Early
Education. We are also licensed by the State of Vermont to operate as a
preschool.
Parent testimonials
- "The teachers at Shelburne
Nursery School continually provided us with detailed feedback on our
daughter's progress with reading, math and social skills. Our daughter
loved attending SNS and acquired an enthusiasm for learning that has
prepared her well for Kindergarten."
- “I feel so fortunate that my
son had the opportunity to participate in this program. It has been a
huge confidence boost for him to enter Kindergarten with such a solid
base of skills.”
- “The afternoon program provides
the perfect bridge between preschool and full-day kindergarten. My son
was well prepared for kindergarten, both academically and socially, and
better able to transition to a full day of school because of the
afternoons he spent at SNS.”
